Where Does Drywall Fit Into a New Home Construction?

When It comes to building a home there is a process and steps that you cant do without the other being completed. One of the first steps is choosing the right location. When you find the dream land or lot to build on, its time to put together the floor plan. This is done by either a package that the company provides or by an architect. It's time to start securing various permits for plumbers, electricians, framers etc. This process when properly organized should only take a couple of months. It's also a good idea for the head contractor to get with the county inspector to validate all the codes they need to pass inspection.

The Foundation

This process when done correct, will save you lots of money and head aches a decade from now. The concrete slab need will be poured into the foundation forms. When the concrete dries we can now mark out the rooms according to the floor plans.

Framing The Foundation

Depending on the size of the house the framing can be knocked out in a couple of weeks. The roof all the way down to the exterior walls and interior walls all together.
This is the skeletal structure of your new home or property. When it comes to commercial building, chances are that the property has metal framing. We like to watch the forecast to make sure we have enough time to install roofing after framing is complete.

ROOFING AND SHINGLES

You all have probably seen a neighbor hood with lots of houses under construction, and noticed there is still naked wood framing exposed right after it rained. This is where shingles comes in Right after the framing we like to do the roof first to prevent more water damage than needed. Nailing in the shingles and more often solar panels along with that. We also install the exterior walls, stucco, bricks, windows and doors. 

ELECTRIC, PLUMBING & HVAC

Time to install the plumbing, the HVAC system with heating and air, and all of the intricate electrical wiring, breakers and outlets. In a commercial property they'll be putting in the sprinkler system. County inspectors will also be present to make sure every part is up to code. 

ISULATION

Wool and fiber glass insulation are the most common ways to insulate the property. Nowadays more and more people are starting to realize the efficiency of spray-foam insulation. Spray foam will save you lots of money because it retains heat and air a lot more than normal insulation.

Insulation goes around all the plumbing and pipes. In some areas, you need to wrap a heating wire around the pipes under the insulation. This is for the freezing winter season so the pipes don't burst.

DRYWALL INSTALLTION

After the insulation is finished its time to drywall. If you used spray foam they will have to do what is trimming, cutting the foam flat with where the wall is. With Sheetrock, always start from the top down. That means starting with the ceilings and working it's way down to the walls to the floor. Once the drywall is hanged, taped, mudded and plastered .Keep in mind the municipal inspector will be checking this as well. If he can
 back out a screw pretty easy by hand, chances are he'll make the crew redo every screw what went into every piece of drywall.

TRIMMING AND DOORS

When the drywall is cured carpenters will start all the interior trimming. All the molding on the staircase rails, windows, doors, hallway and room trim. These also have to be painted.

MODELING THE KITCHEN

Now the kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets can be installed. All the marble or granite counter tops in the kitchen.

INTERIOR REMODELING

Some companies like to remodel the interior with home décor, vases, couches, tables and the whole nine yards.

THE HOME BUILDER

​This is where the home builder inspects the house to make sure everything is up to part. To insure the house meets their standards and the standards of the customer. When the project manager get with the warranty service representative and releases the home to the buyer. This is the main process of building a home and where drywall fits in the grand scheme of building out a new property.
